However, beyond his musical practice, the great Greek creator was a profound thinker on art and the human experience. “I philosophize, and the result becomes music,” he himself declared—and for this reason, he can be characterized today not only as a philosopher of sound but as a sonic philosopher.
His work is distinguished by a rare unity and consistency, a radical treatment of musical and artistic conventions, and above all, by the spiritual foundation that inspires and permeates his compositions: the power of myth, the transcendental element, the life-giving significance of ritual, humanity’s primal fears, panic, and hysteria.
