{"id":5848,"date":"2026-05-13T12:25:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T09:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/contemporary.culture.gov.gr\/2026\/05\/13\/international-short-film-festival-of-drama-international-womens-day\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:25:05","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T09:25:05","slug":"international-short-film-festival-of-drama-international-womens-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/contemporary.culture.gov.gr\/en\/2026\/05\/13\/international-short-film-festival-of-drama-international-womens-day\/","title":{"rendered":"International Short Film Festival of Drama &#8211; International Women&#8217;s Day."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The&nbsp;<strong>International Short Film Festival of Drama<\/strong>, in collaboration with the&nbsp;<strong>Association of Women of Drama<\/strong>, presents 5 short films by 5 distinguished Greek female directors in celebration of&nbsp;<strong>International Women&#8217;s Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The films address themes such as loneliness, exploitation, the struggle for social inclusion, motherhood, depression, the fake &#8220;happy&#8221; society, and the harshness of growing up.<\/p>\n<p>The event will be welcomed by&nbsp;<strong>Petros Paraskeyaidis<\/strong>, Vice President of the Drama International Short Film Festival, and&nbsp;<strong>Aliki Tsiamoura<\/strong>, Vice President of the Association of Women of Drama.<\/p>\n<p>A discussion with the audience will follow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coordination:<\/strong>&nbsp;Anthi Samartzidou<\/p>\n<p>Drama Festival on International Women&#8217;s Day<\/p>\n<p>116 years after the establishment of International Women&#8217;s Day in 1910, women continue to face difficult social conditions, exclusion, dead ends, devaluation, not to mention the increasing levels of multi-faceted violence present today.<\/p>\n<p>By honoring women, the&nbsp;<strong>Drama Festival<\/strong>&nbsp;presents 5 short films from 5 Greek female directors who, from different perspectives, explore and comment on subjects such as loneliness, exploitation, the struggle for social inclusion, motherhood, depression, the fake &#8220;happy&#8221; society, and the harshness of growing up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitsi<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Ourania<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Tina<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Helga<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Phoebe<\/strong>&nbsp;are fictional characters that we encounter daily in real life. Some manage better, some less, and some not at all. We stand with them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gevi Dimitrakopoulou<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Despina Kourti<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Alexandra Matthaiou<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Thelgia Petraki<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Vangelio Soumeli<\/strong>&nbsp;are the creators of the films you will watch, and they have competed and been recognized at the Drama Festival.<\/p>\n<p>We thank them for their work and contribution, and we hope that the reasons we still &#8220;celebrate&#8221; International Women&#8217;s Day will soon be eliminated&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sofia Georgiadou<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Coordination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Film Descriptions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Summer Place<\/strong>, Alexandra Matthaiou, 22\u2032<\/p>\n<p><em>Fiction, 2021<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Summer is a permanent state of mind in Limassol, once a small seaside city in Cyprus that has transformed into a paradise for Mediterranean oligarchs.
