The International Short Film Festival of Drama<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Association of Women of Drama<\/strong>, presents 5 short films by 5 distinguished Greek female directors in celebration of International Women’s Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The films address themes such as loneliness, exploitation, the struggle for social inclusion, motherhood, depression, the fake “happy” society, and the harshness of growing up.<\/p>\n

The event will be welcomed by Petros Paraskeyaidis<\/strong>, Vice President of the Drama International Short Film Festival, and Aliki Tsiamoura<\/strong>, Vice President of the Association of Women of Drama.<\/p>\n

A discussion with the audience will follow.<\/p>\n

Drama Festival on International Women’s Day<\/p>\n

116 years after the establishment of International Women’s Day in 1910, women continue to face difficult social conditions, exclusion, dead ends, devaluation, not to mention the increasing levels of multi-faceted violence present today.<\/p>\n

By honoring women, the Drama Festival<\/strong> presents 5 short films from 5 Greek female directors who, from different perspectives, explore and comment on subjects such as loneliness, exploitation, the struggle for social inclusion, motherhood, depression, the fake “happy” society, and the harshness of growing up.<\/p>\n

Mitsi<\/strong>, Ourania<\/strong>, Tina<\/strong>, Helga<\/strong>, and Phoebe<\/strong> are fictional characters that we encounter daily in real life. Some manage better, some less, and some not at all. We stand with them!<\/p>\n

Gevi Dimitrakopoulou<\/strong>, Despina Kourti<\/strong>, Alexandra Matthaiou<\/strong>, Thelgia Petraki<\/strong>, and Vangelio Soumeli<\/strong> are the creators of the films you will watch, and they have competed and been recognized at the Drama Festival.<\/p>\n

We thank them for their work and contribution, and we hope that the reasons we still “celebrate” International Women’s Day will soon be eliminated….<\/p>\n

Summer is a permanent state of mind in Limassol, once a small seaside city in Cyprus that has transformed into a paradise for Mediterranean oligarchs. As a food stylist, being both a participant and a victim of this urban transformation, Tina is immersed in depression. On her birthday, she is ready to give up everything until an unusual encounter changes her life.<\/p>\n

Ourania is a middle-aged woman who has neglected herself. The appearance of an unknown young man will help her rediscover her femininity.<\/p>\n

Mitsi, a 13-year-old tomboy, confronts a local custom when she gets her period for the first time. “To have the strength to endure the pain now that you are a woman,” her grandmother tells her. Maybe she misunderstood.<\/p>\n

Just before graduating from her rehabilitation program, 26-year-old Phoebe takes her young son on a journey that will determine their future.<\/p>\n
