October is the month of the Nobel Prizes. The Ministry of Culture and Sports remembers the historical moments for Greek Literature, honoring the great Greek poets, Giorgos Seferis and Odysseas Elytis, with a video dedicated to their awarding with the highest distinction, the Nobel Prize in Literature.<\/p>\n
The Swedish Academy honored Greek letters and our culture in the person of Giorgos Seferis and Odysseas Elytis, for the first time on October 24, 1963 and a second time, 16 years later, on October 18, 1979.<\/p>\n
Two Nobel Prizes for poetry that praises the Greek world. With differences, but also similarities, with emotion, lyricism and love for Greek beauty and tradition.<\/p>\n
Poets of the 1930s generation, the two Nobel laureates had parallel paths, shared experiences, but also distinct writing styles. They were translated into dozens of languages, took Greek poetry to the ends of the world and were loved as few Greek writers have.<\/p>\n
