DESCRIPTION:This Sunday lunchtime\, Ourania Gassiou\, organist and curator of Megaron’s church organ\, invites us to enjoy\, up close\, one of the most imposing and impressive musical instruments\, whose history stretches back to Greek antiquity. Although often associated with sacred music\, the church organ that dominates the Christos Lambrakis Hall — with its 6\,080 pipes and four manuals — possesses an inexhaustible richness of tone colours and expressive possibilities. Through works from the classical and contemporary repertoire\, the programme reveals the fascinating sound world of the organ and offers an unforgettable listening experience for young and old alike.\nProgramme:\nJohann Sebastian Bach\, Passacaglia and Fugue\nMarcel Dupré\, Le monde dans l’attente du Sauveur\, from Symphonie-Passion\, έργο.23\nGeorge Frideric Handel\, Organ Concerto\, Op. 4 No. 4 (transcribed for organ by Hermann Keller)\nJohann Sebastian Bach\, Chaconne in D minor\, from Partita No. 2 for Violin\, BWV 1004 (transcribed for organ by Henri Messerer)\nhttps://www.megaron.gr/en/event/ourania-gassiou-3/ \n
